Vyterra Renewables Secures Capital for Nova Scotia Clean Fuel Facility

March 27, 2026 [Biofuels International]- Vyterra Renewables Nova Scotia Ltd. has secured €2.6 million in non‑dilutive financing to complete final engineering, design and permitting for its clean fuel facility in Enfield, Nova Scotia, advancing the project to shovel‑ready status by late 2026.

The funding will also support initial earthworks to prepare the site for construction.
The Enfield facility will be the first in Atlantic Canada to produce Low Carbon Fuel Oil (LCFO), a renewable fuel made from sustainably sourced wood residues. The project is majority‑owned by Vyterra Renewables, a subsidiary of Ensyn Corporation.
Natural Resources Canada has awarded €1.17 million through the Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) programme, recognising the project’s role in strengthening Nova Scotia’s forest and energy sectors. In addition, the Nova Scotia Timber Loan Board has provided a €1.45 million loan to support development.
Once operational, the facility will convert approximately 140,000 tonnes of wood residues into 40 million litres of LCFO annually, creating new markets for forestry by‑products and supporting jobs across the forest, energy and transport sectors.
Vyterra acknowledged the long‑standing support of regional partners including Greenspring Bioinnovation Hub, the Forestry Economic Task Force, Invest Nova Scotia, Ledwidge Lumber and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
J‑C Amado, vice-president of Vyterra Renewables NS, said the project aligns with provincial and federal priorities to build resilient, locally rooted clean energy supply chains. “This project will help keep economic value in Nova Scotia while reducing reliance on imported fuels,” he noted.
Vyterra Renewables focuses on developing sustainable fuel projects across Canada, leveraging Ensyn’s proven RTP® technology to convert biomass into renewable liquid fuels.
