February 25, 2026 [Renewables Now]- The German state of Baden-Wurttemberg on Monday opened a competitive round for green hydrogen projects, offering a funding pot of EUR 50 million (USD 58.9m).
The tender is the second application round of a state funding programme that aims to establish local green hydrogen hubs that will produce green fuel for regional applications. It is open for electrolysis projects of at least 1 MW in size.
The deadline for submitting proposals is May 18, 2026, with an online consultation due to be held on March 20, 2026.
Each project will be eligible to receive up to EUR 10 million in state funding, while for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) the maximum amount is set at EUR 8.25 million. The funding to be allocated will cover up to 45% of the total project investment, including the construction of new electrolyser capacity or the expansion of existing sites. Small companies and SMEs can apply for an additional 20% and 10% of support, respectively.
The first round of Baden-Wurttemberg’s green hydrogen promotion scheme allocated grants to eight projects with a combined electrolysis capacity of 55 MW. A total of EUR 50.7 million of grants were distributed among the winners.
