January 14, 2026 [Biofuels International]- SkyNRG Americas is pleased to announce a major milestone for Project Wigeon, its planned sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility in Eastern Washington.
The project has received full environmental approvals from the Washington State Department of Ecology and Walla Walla County, confirming compliance with state and local standards for land use, water protection, and fuel transportation.
Project Wigeon is poised to become one of North America’s first commercial-scale SAF facilities producing jet fuel from renewable natural gas. With environmental approvals in place, the project is now advancing to the engineering phase.
“Aviation is one of the hardest sectors to decarbonise, which is why SkyNRG is building SAF facilities like Project Wigeon around the world,” said John Plaza, CEO of SkyNRG Americas. “The Department of Ecology’s review and Walla Walla County’s approval demonstrate our commitment to building this facility the right way—leveraging industry-leading technology, conducting robust environmental analysis, and ensuring long-term benefits for the community.
“This progress enables us to continue delivering clean fuel to major airports, create economic opportunities in Eastern Washington, and protect natural resources and public health for years to come.”
