New Biofuel Plant to be Built in Kent in the UK
11.06.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

November 06, 2025 [Biofuels International]- A new £50 million (€56 million) biofuel plant that will help power one of Britain’s largest road projects has been granted planning permission.

Medway Council has given the go-ahead for an expansion of the Syntech Biofuel facility at Kingsnorth Industrial Estate on the Hoo Peninsula.

The project will include a new 1,600 sq m production building and associated infrastructure to convert waste cooking oil into advanced smart biofuel — a low-carbon alternative to conventional diesel.
The site will also support research and development, as well as increased production, creating 20 new skilled jobs.

Syntech Biofuel, based in the South East, produces the highest volume of biofuel in the UK for commercial use within the transport and logistics sectors.

The 1.05-hectare site will feature new processing tanks, electric generators, landscaping, and biodiversity improvements.

The proposals were designed by Out the Box Architecture, while the planning application to Medway Council was managed by Nexus Planning and approved on 13 October.
