September 23, 2025 [Ceenergy News]- Orlen Unipetrol, the largest refining and petrochemical company in Czechia, has announced the termination of operations at its industrial complex in Kolín and is offering it for sale, the company stated. This move is part of the group’s wider restructuring toward a low- and zero-emission future.
The 44.4-hectare former refinery site in Kolin is located near the D11 motorway and major railway routes. Once a key player in the Czech chemical industry, the facility specialised in lubricants, bitumen, and other refinery products but closed in 2021 due to declining performance and shifts in the chemical sector. Orlen is now looking for interested investors and development companies who would like to use the potential of this area.
“We focus on key areas – refining, petrochemicals, energy and sustainable development,” said Zdenek Jira, Member of the Board of Directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group. “For activities that are not directly related to these areas, we are looking for new forms of utilisation. We believe that the location has great potential for new investors who can implement projects with great added value for the city and the entire region.”
