July 16, 2025 [H2 View]- Energys has been granted planning approval for a B2B green hydrogen facility at Hastings in Victoria, Australia.
Energys claims it is the first commercially focused green hydrogen B2B industrial supply initiative aimed at displacing grey hydrogen currently produced from natural gas.
At the core of the facility will be a 1MW PEM electrolyser powered by grid electricity during periods of surplus renewable generation and low wholesale energy prices.
Coregas, Australia’s first producer of liquid hydrogen, will operate the site and manage all the downstream logistics including compression, liquefaction, cylinder and trailer filling and distribution. Hydrogen will be sold to a growing base of industrial and mobility customers.
Roger Knight, CEO of Energys, said the project positions Victoria at the forefront of green hydrogen innovation.
The approval is some good news for Australia’s embattled hydrogen sector, which has encountered significant challenges over the past year.
The South Australian Government reallocated funding from the Whyalla hydrogen project to support local steelworks in February.
