Port of Rotterdam & EDGE Navigation Cooperate on Liquid Hydroegn
05.26.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

May 26, 2025 [Tank Storage]- At the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in Rotterdam this May, the Port of Rotterdam and EDGE Navigation agreed to cooperate on the development of a future-proof liquid hydrogen infrastructure for the maritime sector.

EDGE Navigation is currently developing a series of commercial cargo ships powered by liquid hydrogen (LH2), as well as an LH2 tanker that can be used for import to Northwest Europe and ship-to-ship bunkering. Both parties express their ambition to further develop Rotterdam as an international hub for maritime decarbonisation.

This cooperation is directed at preparing the port of Rotterdam for the arrival of EDGE’s LH2 ships, which are expected to enter service from 2028. They aim to jointly gain insight into the necessary policies, procedures and regulations for the import of liquid hydrogen from ship-to-shore, and for ship-to-ship delivery.
