Building a Sustainable Future in Andalusia – Tepsa’s New Terminal
03.28.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

March 28, 2025 [Tepsa]- In an era of rapid energy transition and increasing demand for eco-conscious solutions, Tepsa is taking a bold step towards sustainability with its first-ever storage terminal in Andalusia, designed to handle a wide variety of bulk liquids—including chemical products, biofuels, and renewable materials.

Located in Huelva, this project is more than just an expansion—it is a commitment to fostering sustainable growth, supporting renewable energy, and contributing to the circular economy.

Why Huelva? A strategic move for sustainability

Huelva, with its robust industrial infrastructure and growing role in renewable energy, is the ideal location for our latest venture. As one of Spain’s leading ports, it serves as a vital hub for the movement of bulk liquids, including chemicals, biofuels and other sustainable commodities.

By establishing a presence here, Tepsa is not only strengthening its logistical capabilities but is also aligning with the region’s drive to innovate in energy and environmental stewardship. This terminal, our first in Andalusia, will help meet the growing demand for cleaner energy solutions while creating economic opportunities in Andalusia.

A terminal designed for tomorrow

A future capacity of 65,000 m3 for chemical products and biofuels with tanks ranging from 700m3 – 4,400m3.

⦁   Tanks made of steel / mild steel with several extra features, including heating, insulation, recirculation, and nitrogen bubbling.

⦁   Land reserved for new energy projects.

⦁   Infrastructure for loading and unloading products by vessel, truck and train.

Sustainability at the heart of our operation

Tepsa is committed to operating responsibly and reducing its environmental footprint. Key sustainability measures include:

  • Air quality management: advanced vapor recovery systems to mitigate emissions.
  • Water management: comprehensive treatment systems for rainwater and operational effluent.
  • Soil protection: containment and spill prevention measures to safeguard the environment.
  • Noise and light management: modern machinery and sound barriers to reduce noise pollution. Energy-efficient lighting systems to minimize light spillage.

A collaborative effort

This milestone would not have been possible without the green light from the Andalusian Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, which granted Unified Environmental Authorization that ensures the project adheres to stringent environmental standards.

This terminal is part of a larger movement in Huelva, all contributing to the region’s transformation into a leading hub for renewable energy. At Tepsa, we believe in building infrastructure that not only meets today’s demands but which is also prepared for tomorrow’s challenges. Our new terminal, which will come into operation in the second quarter of 2027, is a step forward in terms of sustainability, supporting innovation, and creating shared value for the communities we serve.
