Argentina's YPF Closes Deal for Nearly 20 Million Tons of LNG in Asia and Europe - Chief of Staff

January 29, 2025 [Reuters]- Argentina’s state-run energy company YPF has closed deals to supply up to 15 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to buyers in Asia, the country’s chief of staff said on Tuesday, as the South American nation seeks to boost energy exports.

In a post on social media site X, Guillermo Francos, chief of staff of the government of libertarian President Javier Milei, also hinted at an additional sale of 4 million tons of LNG to European buyers that would be announced in the coming weeks.

He did not name potential European buyers, but said trade deals in Asia would translate into about $7 billion a year for Argentina in LNG exports.

Last week, YPF signed a memorandum of understanding with three Indian companies to potentially export up to 10 million tons of LNG annually in a deal that also included cooperation on lithium, critical minerals and oil and gas projects.
