Locus-Tech, Polish University Team Up to Produce Green Hydrogen
01.13.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

January 13, 2025 [Renewables Now]-Polish logistics company Locus-Tech said today it has joined hands with the West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT) in Szczecin to produce green hydrogen with a 10 MW electrolyser.

The project foresees building a hydrogen production plant equipped and a storage facility. An adjoining research and development (R&D) centre will test hydrogen technologies. The costs are estimated at about PLN 200 million (USD 48m/EUR 47m).

The planned installation will be powered by renewable energy sources with a connection capacity of about 20 MWp. Therefore, the consortium will be joined by a company producing electricity from solar or wind energy, or a combination of the two.

The group will apply in March for funding from the National Center for Research and Development under the SMART programme, which is aimed at large enterprises planning innovation, digitalisation and greening of enterprise operations, for which the R&D module is obligatory.

The contract between the university and Locus-Tech, signed in December, assumes joint efforts to obtain funding for the project. On its part, ZUT is responsible for the development and research, while Locus-Tech is in charge of the production, generation and sale of green hydrogen.
