Maire Awarded PDP Contract for DG Fuel's SAF Plant

December 05, 2024 [SAF Investor]- MAIRE, through its subsidiary MyRechemical, has been awarded a contract by DG Fuels LCC to provide early engineering, licensing, and Process Design Package (PDP) services for their sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Nebraska, USA.

The plant, slated to be operational by 2029, is expected to produce 450m liters of SAF annually from residual biomass, primarily corn stover. The gasification and gas treatment units, designed using NEXTCHEM’s proprietary NX Circular™ technology, will process 1m tons of corn stover per year.

This project aligns with the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Clean Fuels & Products Shot initiative and is eligible for carbon offsets under the CORSIA scheme.

“This project, along with the Louisiana SAF plant, solidifies NEXTCHEM’s position as a global leader in advancing circular solutions for decarbonization. These large-scale SAF initiatives demonstrate our commitment to the strategic North American market,” said Fabio Fritelli, managing director, NEXTCHEM.

DG Fuels announced plans to develop SAF plant in Nebraska in August earlier this year. The plant, built in cooperation with the Nebraska BioEconomy, is set to begin production in 2030. The plant will utilise cellulosic biomass and clean hydrogen to produce SAF.

Earlier in June, DG Fuels also awarded MAIRE (NEXTCHEM) licensing contract to supply technology for their SAF plant in Louisiana, USA.
