November 28, 2024 [Inter Terminals]- Inter Terminals have agreed, together with Nynas AB (publ), a world-leading supplier of long-lasting, high-performance bitumen and naphthenic specialty products, to implement an energy efficiency project, Newflow. Inter Terminals will insulate two tanks and increase pump speeds, which will lead to several positive effects for both operations and the environment.
While the tanks are being insulated, they will continue to be operated. This is made possible by an innovative epoxy fixing method that allows the work to be carried out without welding.
Through the modifications of the two tanks, the project will:
- Improve energy efficiency by reducing heat loss
- Speed up product handling through improved temperature control, resulting in substantially reduced berth time
- Reduced energy consumption, contributing to a lower carbon footprint
The upgraded facilities will be in operation by summer 2025.
“The project is part of Inter Terminal Sweden’s strategy to continuously improve the flexibility and efficiency of our facilities together with our clients while contributing to a more sustainable future. We are delighted to be able to implement Newflow together long-standing partner Nynas”, says Johan Zettergren, Managing Director of Inter Terminals Sweden.
“Energy efficiency is an important part of Nynas’ commitment towards a sustainable business.” Anna Keereweer, Site Manager at the Gothenburg Refinery, remarks. “Working together on the Newflow project with Inter Terminals Sweden shows our strategic efforts to improve operations while advancing our environmental goals.”
