November 28, 2023 [Daily News]- The Planning and Natural Resources Department announced last week that it has received and tentatively intends to approve an application for a propane fired tank heater at the St. Croix terminal.

The application was filed by terminal owner Limetree Bay Terminals doing business as Ocean Point Terminals.

If the permit is approved, Ocean Point will be subject to a range of regulatory requirements, including emission limitations, equipment testing requirements, equipment monitoring requirements and equipment record keeping and reporting requirements.

According to the department, the unit has the potential to emit .17 tons of nitrogen oxides, 2.15 tons of sulfur dioxide, 10.v77 tons of carbon monoxide, 6.9 tons of organic compounds and 2.02 tons particulate matter into the atmosphere each year.

The application and draft permit can be reviewed online at the Planning and Natural Resources website until Dec. 8 or at the main DPNR office from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Written comments can be sent to Commissioner Jean-Pierre Oriol at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources Division of Environmental Protection, #45 Mars Hill, Frederiksted, VI 00840.
