September 3, 2021 [Bnamericas] – Peru’s state oil company Petroperú plans to launch bidding in October to complete the new Ilo fuel terminal in the southern region of Moquegua.

The 705-day contract will entail procurement, construction, field engineering, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and authorizations/permitting for the project’s first stage (296,000b).

The work includes a reception system through submarine lines and the installation of storage tanks.

Among the minimum technical requirements to participate in the tender is having completed a maximum of 20 related service contracts for a minimum combined amount of 400mn soles (US$98mn), according to the advance procurement notice.

The depot will cover current and forecast demand in Moquegua and the neighboring coastal region of Tacna, and potentially the inland regions of Puno and Madre de Dios. A second phase would take capacity to 1.05Mb.

Latest numbers from Peru’s energy and mines ministry show that fuel sales in July averaged 258,210b/d compared with 209,300b/d a year earlier and 272,510b/d in July 2019.
