July 13, 2020 [Kallanish Energy] – A McDermott International subsidiary has been awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction of 14 oil storage tanks in British Columbia, Kallanish Energy reports.

The flat-bottomed atmospheric storage tanks will be up to 185 feet (56.4 meters) in diameter, said CB&I Storage Solutions in a statement.

They will be built in Burnaby, British Columbia, at the western terminus of the expanded Trans Mountain oil pipeline that is under construction.

The engineering and installation will be done by Canadian workers. The deal with worth between $50 million and $250 million (U.S.), McDermott said.

The pipeline project is owned by the Canadian federal government. It will expand the capacity on the pipeline system from 300,000 barrels per day to 890,000 barrels per day.

The new pipeline will run next to the existing pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia. McDermott International has recently emerged from Chapter 11 reorganization.
