Fluxys to launch platform for Transferring LNG Delivery at Zeebrugge Terminal
04.08.2019 By Greta Talmaci - NEWS

April 8, 2019 [S&P Global Platts] – Fluxys, the operator of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal in Belgium, plans to launch a window for the transfer of LNG terminal capacity, it said Thursday.

The window is set to be launched in the second half of April, and will also allow users to access additional storage services.

Specifics about what kinds of services will be offered via the window and how these will operate were not available immediately.

Fluxys did not respond to requests for comment.

The Zeebrugge LNG terminal is one of the main import terminals in Northwest Europe and facilitated imports of some 138 Bcf (3.9 Bcm) of gas in 2018, according to data from S&P Global Platts Analytics.

Since September 2018, LNG deliveries to Europe have risen significantly on the back of an increase in global production capacity and a mild winter in the top demand market of Northeast Asia.

European LNG imports totaled 988 Bcf (28 Bcm) of gas equivalent in March, 69% above the 584 Bcf (16.5 Bcm) imported in the same month last year, according to Platts Analytics.

Consequently, competition for delivery slots in Europe has begun to increase among producers and traders trying to optimize their portfolios or place spare volumes.
