New Storage Projects In Mexico Would Increase Current Capacity By 163%

March 19, 2018 [BNAmericas] - The Head of the Ministry of Energy (SENER) said that these projects will increase the current storage capacity by 163% in benefit of the energy security of Mexico, in addition, the investments of these terminals will be around 2 thousand 300 million dollars.


Secretary Pedro Joaquín Coldwell indicated that the competition of new participants in the fuel market is encouraging the modernization and expansion of fuel storage and transportation infrastructure.

The Swiss Glencore participates actively in this effort, with the construction of two storage terminals, one in the port of Dos Bocas, Tabasco and another in the port of Tuxpan, Veracruz. In sum, the economic income that these two projects is close to 200 million dollars.

On the other hand, the Holder of the energy branch added that with the development of terminals, polyduct and other means of transport more profitable and safe, will have more competitive logistics costs and we will strengthen the reliability in the supply of fuels in our country.

The event was also attended by: Alexander Beard, director of Glencore Oil & Gas; Emilio Estrada, CEO of G500 Network; Antonio Caballero Fernández, president of Grupo Gasolinero G500; the Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons, Doctor Aldo Flores Quiroga and Fernando Herrera Zallas, General Director of Petrolíferos of the CRE.
