Throughput of Port Tallinn (Estonia) Down 9.2% to 14.25 mln t in 9M’17

October 16, 2017 [Port News] - In January-September 2017, the Port of Tallinn (Estonia) handled 14.25 mln t of cargo (-9.2% %, year-on-year). According to the Port Authorities, transshipment of containers climbed by 5.5% to 157,050 TEUs. 


Transshipment of general cargo grew by 18.5% to 509,200 t, dry bulk cargo – up 5% to 2,857,200 t, liquid bulk cargo – down 27% to 5.71 mln t, Ro-Ro cargo – up 11.3% to 3.78 mln t.

The number of vessels’ calls increased by 6.3% to 5,959 including 4,686 calls of passenger ships (+9.7%) and 1,273 calls of cargo ships (-4.9%).

Port of Tallinn ranks fourth largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2016 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 20.12 million tonnes.
