Throughput of Port Tallinn (Estonia) Down 10.3% to 20.12 M t in 2016

January 11, 2017 [PortNews IAA] - In January-December 2016, the Port of Tallinn (Estonia) handled 20.12 mln t of cargo (-10.3%, year-on-year). According to the Port Authorities, transshipment of containers dropped by 3.1% to 202,330 TEUs.


Transshipment of general cargo climbed by 2.9% to 580,900 t, loose bulk cargo – up 27.3% to 3.74 mln t, liquid bulk cargo – down 26.4% to 9.44 mln t, Ro-Ro cargo – up 5.4% to 4.56 mln t.

The number of vessels’ calls increased by 4.1% to 7,370 units. Turnover of passengers grew by 3.9% to  10.17 mln passengers.

Port of Tallinn ranks fourth largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2015 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 22.44 million tonnes.
