June 22, 2016 [OPIS] - A second Europe-bound tanker laden with jet fuel is seen diverting to the Caribbean this month, according to the OPIS Tanker Tracker.
The FPMC P Eagle, laden with about 90,000 metric tons of jet fuel that was loaded at Sikka, India, around late May, was originally signaling it would be arriving in Le Havre, France by the end of this month.
However, after taking the long way around the Cape of Good Hope for Europe, the ship diverted course over the weekend, and is now signaling it will arrive at St. Croix, on the U.S. Virgin Islands, a known storage area for refined products.
Castleton is said to be the charterer of the vessel, based on information compiled from shipbrokers and traders.
Diversions of the 30 to 35 tankers that normally head for Europe each month is rarely seen, but earlier this month another tanker, Justice Victoria, diverted to St. Croix after earlier signaling its destination as Rotterdam and then
Shellhaven in the U.K.
Like the FPMC P Eagle, the cargo was loaded at Sikka, although its Shellhaven signal suggests that Shell might have been the cargo owner.
