November 27, 2015 [Fosmax LNG S.A.S.] - Fosmax LNG is to offer a transshipment service at the Fos Cavaou LNG terminal with effect from December 1st, 2015. This new service follows the signature of an exclusive partnership agreement between Fosmax LNG and Teekay Marine Solutions Ltd., formerly SPT Marine Services, the world leader in LNG ship-to-ship (STS) cargo transfer operations.
This new transshipment service will allow Fosmax LNG’s clients to transfer Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) with the use of cryogenic hoses, by mooring two vessels in double banking alongside the terminal jetty. Moreover all the boil-off gas (BOG) generated by this operation will be managed by the terminal providing greater operational and environmental efficiencies.
Transshipments that use the infrastructure of the Fos Cavaou terminal provides a higher level of availability. The Fos Cavaou LNG terminal offers the favorable marine and metocean conditions of the Mediterranean, including a jetty that is protected from swell, an absence of tides and an access channel that can accommodate two vessels at the same time together with the highest level of professional port services.
Leveraging its experience and know-how in LNG, Oil and Petroleum STS transfers, Teekay Marine Solutions Ltd. has developed with Fosmax LNG all the procedures necessary for safe provision of this new service.
Fosmax LNG is served by LNG infrastructure that has proven its reliability, with more than 250 vessels received since 2010, and a rate of use that is amongst the highest in Europe (35% in 2015 and 37% in 2014). It is continuing to expand its range of services to provide LNG players with greater flexibility through its majority shareholder Elengy, which has been operating LNG terminals since 1965, with over 9,000 cargoes unloaded.
