November 6, 2015 [Break Bulk] - Aberdeen-based energy services company Wood Group has won the engineering, design and procurement services contract for Fairway Energy Partners’ Pierce Junction Crude Oil Storage facility.
Wood Group Mustang – one of the three Wood Group businesses – will provide services to build out the surface facilities that support the crude oil storage facility.
The design of the first phase of the project will allow for storage of three segregations of crude oil, to a total capacity of about 10 million barrels, in existing caverns at the site. Fairway has expansion rights to take that total to about 20 million barrels.
Michele McNichol, chief executive of Wood Group Mustang, said: “Wood Group Mustang’s solution starts with a proven design that is modified to meet Fairway’s needs.
By leveraging similar designs we’re able to provide an accelerated, cost-effective project that will help Fairway to meet its year-end 2016 in-service schedule for this underground storage facility.”
As an international energy services business Wood Group provides a range of engineering, production support and maintenance management services to the oil and gas, and power generation industries worldwide.
Houston-headquartered Fairway Energy Partners operates the only independent salt dome crude oil storage terminal in the greater Houston market area.
