June 6, 2014 [FARS News Agency] - Iranian Oil Terminals Company plans to increase crude storage facilities of the country's Kharg oil terminal, IOTC Managing Director Pirouz Moussavi announced.
“Four crude storage tanks are to become operational soon in the Kharg oil terminal,” Moussavi said.
He noted that the tanks, each with capacity of one million barrels, are 97 percent ready.
“These storage tanks will boost Iran’s bargaining power in energy diplomacy at international level and will affect the country’s crude oil exports process,” Moussavi said.
The four storage tanks will increase the oil stock capacity of Kharg terminal to 28 mb/d.
In relevant remarks in May 2013, Moussavi said that IOTC would build the country’s second largest oil terminal in the Southeastern city of Jusk.
He said construction of Jusk Oil Terminal with the storage capacity of 20 million barrels of oil would require USD 2.4 billion in investment.
He said that engineering studies of Jusk Oil Terminal was over and construction of the terminal, as the second largest oil terminal in the country, would embark on after allocating needed budget.
