Yara Opens 2 Diesel Exhaust Fluid Storage Terminals in Calif., Florida
05.06.2014 - NEWS

May 6, 2014 [OPIS] - Yara North America, the world's largest diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) producer, said on Monday that it has opened two new DEF terminals in Stockton, Calif., and Tampa, Fla., as part of its continued investment and expansion in North America.

The addition of the Stockton storage facility, alongside its existing facility at Port Hueneme, means that Yara has the largest DEF storage capacity on the West Coast. Its new large-scale DEF storage facility in Tampa is the first in the state.

Now fully operational, the facilities will provide distributors and fleets on both coasts increased access to Air1 DEF, an operating fluid used by diesel-powered vehicles equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology to meet EPA 2010 emissions regulations.

DEF consumption in North America by Class 4-8 vehicles is expected to exceed 400 million gallons by 2015, according to Integer Research, a DEF market analyst.

This major expansion in new deep-water terminals builds on Yara’s rapid investment over the past three years in storage terminals such as Houston, Texas, and Chesapeake, Va., and in its DEF production and distribution facility in Belle Plaine, Canada.

Yara also supplies the North American market with its production capabilities at its site in Sluiskil, Netherlands, the world’s largest DEF production facility.

Founded in Norway in 1905, Yara has a worldwide presence with sales to 150 countries.
