May 25, 2013 [FARS News Agency] - Oil products storage capacity of Iran will climb by 1.3 billion liters in the current Iranian year (ending on March 20, 2014) by launching new oil storage projects.
The announcement was made by National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Director Mostafa Kashkouli, who added that construction of new oil tanks are underway in Kerman, Mahshahr, Shiraz, Oromiyeh, Birjand and Malayer respectively with storage capacity of 350, 300, 166, 120, 100 and 70 million liters.
“In addition to building new oil storage facilities, a number of current storage facilities including Gorgan, Zahedan, Qom, Bojnourd and Semnan oil tanks will undergo expanding plans.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the official noted that the ongoing storage projects with at least 85 percent progress will be complete up to the end of current Iranian calendar year on 20 March 2014.
According to the NIOPDC top executive, current oil products storage capacity of the country stands at 11.5 billion liters which will edged up to more than 13 billion liters by launching new projects.
“These projects are underway with approximately 4.000 billion rials investment which along with completion of upgrading plans at oil refineries will boost storage capacity of the country to a satisfactory level,” he added.
