August 30, 2012 [Braintree] - Citgo Petroleum Corp. has been granted permission to repair the dock of its Fore River terminal, including the removal and replacement of fenders and the installation of a new aft spring line.

Citgo hopes to start the work, which is anticipated to take nine months to finish, this fall. The project may involve 12-hour days and some night work as crews try to work around deliveries to Citgo’s Braintree terminal

With 34 conditions, chief among them Citgo’s pledge to work with Harbormaster Richard McDermott to address his concerns about silt deposited in a small boat channel adjacent to the terminal by tank ships making deliveries, planning board members unanimously agreed Aug. 21 to approve the proposal they initially discussed July 10.

“We’ve agreed to work with the harbormaster to see what his concerns are, but we’re not agreeing to perform any dredging,” terminal manager Allen Morris said. “We don’t know that it’s necessary.”
