Estonian Vopak E.O.S. Plans to Expand its Terminals
05.31.2012 - NEWS

May 31, 2012 [The Baltic Course] - First, Vopak intends to build up to 330,000 cubic metres of fuel tanks in its current area in Maardu. It also intends to revive the so-called Lonessa terminal project, initiated in 2001, which would mean a further 450,000 cubic metres.

Vopak E.O.S. manager Arnout Lugtmeijer said that currently detailed development plans are being compiled and it might take 9 months to 2 years to approve them. The building of the terminals takes a further 18 months. The company cannot yet forecast the size of the investment.

Lugtmeijer said that replacement of fast cargo turnover with the need for more long-term warehousing is a global raw material market trend, requiring thus bigger warehousing terminals.

He noted that next year when Russia joins the WTO, the state has to treat all members equally which might increase cargo flows.

Vopak E.O.S. Ltd. operates four modern terminals (Termoil, Trendgate, Pakterminal, Stivterminal) with a total storage capacity of 1,026,000 cubic metres and it is the largest independent oil products terminal operator in the Baltic states, the company says in its homepage.

Vopak E.O.S. Ltd. is incorporated in the network of Royal Vopak, the global market leader in independent storage and handling of liquid and gaseous chemicals and oil products.
