First Vessel Discharged at Botlek Tank Terminal

December 5, 2011 [BTT] - Phase I of the construction of Botlek Tank Terminal (HES interest 50%) has been commissioned successfully.


Last Sunday, 4 December, BTT discharged 4,000 tonnes of biodiesel from tanker “Golfstraum”. This cargo was stored in tankpit 20. Today, 3,000 tonnes of biodiesel will be discharged from tank barge “Linde” and will be stored in tankpit 20 as well.Construction of the first phase started end of April 2010 and involved an investment of about € 70 million.
Construction was executed by the Polish company Polimex-Mosostal S.A. from Warschau, within budget and on schedule.BTT has 34 storage tanks, providing a combined storage capacity of 200,000 m3, of which 130,000 m3 is earmarked for clean fuels and 70,000 m3 for edible oils and biodiesel.The new, state-of-the-art terminal has ample deepwater berths, capable of handling and storing a varied range of liquid bulk products.
The terminal’s 420 metre jetty can accommodate two seagoing vessels with a draught of up to 115,000 DWT and two barges simultaneously, and operates 24/7.
