New Terminal to Be Built on Houston Ship Channel
12.21.2010 - NEWS

December 20, 2010 [OPIS] - A new terminal that will handle residual fuel, blendstocks, vacuum gas oil, crude oil and slurry oil is destined to see construction begin next year at property on the Houston Ship Channel.

The facility, touted as a “Next Generation” black oil terminal, will be developed by Battleground Oil Specialty Company (BOSTCO) with initial construction likely to begin next summer.
In the last twelve months BOSTCO has acquired the land, completed preliminary design plans, and applied for necessary permits and discussed regulatory measures. If all goes as planned, the facility will be operational by spring 2013. A number of companies have already made commitments for storage at the as yet to be built terminal.
Two deepwater ship docks, twelve barge spots, and a dozen rail spots as well as pipeline connections are planned.  The facility will have an initial capacity of 7.8-million bbl with plans to expand tankage by an additional 2.5-million bbl as well as add other connections for transportation.
