Pertamina to open fuel storage terminal in East Java

June 6, 2010 [The Jakarta Post] - State oil and gas company PT Pertamina will open a fuel storage terminal in the East Java town of Tuban next week.

With a capacity of 150,000 kiloliters, the facility is expected to boost the security of fuel supplies in the country, Pertamina marketing and business director Djaelani Sutomo said Monday.

“The terminal will extend the fuel stock from the previous 17 days to 19 days,” Djaelani said prior to a hearing with the House of Representatives’ Commission VII on energy.

He said the facility would solve any fuel crisis resulting from technical problems or maintenance work in Pertamina refineries.

“Now, the fuel stock will remain secure even if certain refineries do not operate,” he said as quoted by Antara news agency.

The company will open another fuel terminal in Bau-bau in Southeast Sulawesi with a capacity of 50,000 kiloliters next year and a terminal in Tanjung Uban on Bintan Island in Riau with a capacity of 200,000 kiloliters in 2012.
