Baltic terminal wins new backing

The Russian oil giant Rosneft says it may use a new terminal being built in the Gulf of Finland as an export point. Rosneft President Sergei Bogdanchikov, speaking at an economic forum in St. Petersburg, said Rosneft was considering exporting oil products through the Gunvor terminal in Ust-Luga.

Gunvor, one of the world’s largest oil traders, confirmed in March that it was building a major terminal for oil products at the Russian port. Reports have said the terminal will mainly handle fuel oil.
Gunvor hopes to have the new terminal at the port in operation by the end of this year.
Bogdanchikov’s remarks were quoted by a Russian news agency.
Ust Luga, one of Russia’s fastest-growing ports, is south-west of St. Petersburg. The port will be at the end of a planned expansion of Russia’s Baltic Pipeline System.
Last week Bunkerworld reported that Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, the bunkering arm of Russian oil company Gazprom Neft had started supplying in the port.
The latest report made no reference to any plans Rosneft might have for providing bunker services.
Rosneft Marine, one of Rosneft’s two bunkering divisions, last year said it was targeting ports in the Baltic, Black Sea and Mediterranean.
