Mr Frank Erkelens, president of Vopak Oil EMEA & board member of Vopak Horizon Fujairah, during a ceremony to mark its 10 year anniversary said that the terminal has grown from an initial oil product storage capacity of 500,000 cubic meters to around 1.5 million cubic meters today.
Vopak Horizon Fujairah said that it has developed over the years into one of the main bunkering centers in the world and as an important hub for the clean petroleum product and fuel oil trade in the Middle East.”
Mr Saeed Khoory, CEO of ENOC Group & board member of Vopak Horizon Fujairah Limited, commented that Vopak Horizon Fujairah “has evolved into a name that is synonymous with the highest professional operations in bunkering and shipping in the region and its success will always be regarded a milestone in the development of the UAE and the region’s oil and shipping industry.”
According to figures from the port of Fujairah, Bunker sales in Fujairah reached 16.5 million tonnes in 2007. It saw Fujairah overtake Rotterdam as the world’s second biggest bunkering hub behind Singapore.
