TDG has opened a new £3m chemical storage and distribution centre at the Wilton International Complex in Teesside, less than a mile from Teesport. It provides 60,000ft2 of high bay warehousing, and includes handling capability for bulk powders and liquids.
The Wilton site is home to global chemical manufacturers such as Invista, Artenius, Croda, Sabic and Dow, all of whom are TDG customers.
TDG says its decision was influenced the planned £300m investment in a deep sea container port at Teesport, which recently won approval from central government.
Colin Rutherford, UK operations director at TDG, says: “Our North-East customers needed logistics solutions to let them take full advantage of the new port capacity and routes.
“So our investment in warehousing, distribution and a complete range of added-value services, from bagging and drumming to silo evacuation and breaking bulk, will mean we’re fully geared to meet our customers’ strategic needs.”
